Sculptra Aesthetic is made of a synthetic material called poly-L-lactic acid, which works to replace lost collagen. Poly-L-lactic acid is safe — absorbed naturally by the body — and has been used for years in dissolvable stitches.
Sculptra Aesthetic is used to correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds, using the appropriate injection technique.
Sculptra is generally well tolerated. Most side effects are mild to moderate and last 7 days or less. The most common side effects include temporary injection site reactions such as redness, pain/tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration.
Scupltra is indicated for use in people with healthy immune systems as a single regimen for the correction of shallow to deep contour deficiencies and other facial wrinkles.
After a Sculptra injection, you will typically see immediate results. However, this is temporary swelling, and final results appear over a minimum of 3 months.
Sculptra Aesthetic is different because it gradually and subtly corrects facial volume contour defects. This can provide a refined, more youthful looking appearance that can last more than two years.
While pain tolerance between patients varies, Sculptra is infused with Lidocaine, an anesthetic that minimizes the discomfort. A topical anesthetic is also used prior to the injections so that most patients feel little to no discomfort.
